We are just 3 miles from the fantastic Dalby Forest, with its brand new visitor centre, a great place for walking, running, cycling and a beautiful scenic drive.

Further afield guests can easily explore the countryside, including the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and Yorkshire Wolds, as well as the seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough. 

The lovely market town of  Helmsley is close at hand, while stately homes including Castle Howard, Duncombe Park and Nunnington Hall are nearby. In addition there are the old castles and abbeys that form part of Yorkshire’s rich local history.

Walks (and Runs!):

Darran is very enthusiastic about running and can offer sound advice from all his experience.  At the London Marathon in 2007 he was 19th overall and the first Over 40! 

Mile 25 of the London Marathon!Darran is happy to give advice on diet, exercise, stretching and running. Whether as a beginner or up to International level. And being a member of the 2008 Yorkshire County athletic team, he is just as enthusiastic about the trails and scenic routes that pass through the glorious countryside around Pickering.  Whether you are running or walking Darran has some great ideas for wonderful routes - short and long.

But don't worry, Sarah & Darran are happy to offer advice on cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants for those who simply want to relax. Great local beers, great local food. The best of Yorkshire!
